Internacional 3 Santos 3: What’s going on with both teams?

Does Borges (left) deserve a chance for the seleção? (Getty Images)

Internacional and Santos drew 3-3 in a fascinating match on Wednesday night. In absolute cruise control, 3-0 in front (and deservedly so) with 15 minutes to go, Internacional inexplicably let Santos back in the game. 15 minutes later, its 3-3 and Inter’s players are being booed off the pitch at the final whistle. Derby day in Brazil

Good chance the in-form Leandro Damião will be thumping his chest again come Sunday (VIPCOMM)

Adilson Batista will be the new coach at São Paulo.

Corinthians thrashed the league leaders São Paulo 5-0 on Sunday afternoon thanks to three goals from Portugal international striker Liedson. Corinthians have become something of a bogey team for São Paulo and so it proved again on Sunday afternoon. Continue reading

Libertadores final: difficult night for Neymar but advantage Santos

Neymar struggled against some tough marking (Getty Images)

After the drama of volcanic eruptions in Chile and the subsequent ash cloud that has covered most of southern South America, the Copa Libertadores final first leg finally got the go-ahead to be played on Wednesday night as scheduled.

In front of 60,000 screaming Peí±arol fans (including Diego Forlán), who put on quite a spectacle, Santos will be the happier of the two teams after they came away from the match with a 0-0 draw. Not a bad result at all for Neymar and co. especially because away goals count for nothing in the final, unlike previous rounds. Continue reading
