Santos 4 5 Flamengo: Ronaldinho hat-trick
The best game of the season so far and some commentators are even saying it was one of the best ever games in the Brazilian National Championship. Stars of the future, past and present, heroes, villains, dislocated shoulders, missed penalties, brilliant goals from free kicks, brilliant dribbles, clinical finishing, brilliant passing, poor defending and goalkeeping. This game had it all (except for a red card I suppose)! Continue reading
Copa America 2011: Brazil out
Brazil sensationally missed all four of their penalties in a penalty shootout against Paraguay as they crashed out of the Copa America at the quarter final stage. Unlike previous games at the competition, Brazil dominated the match from start to finish. Continue reading
Brazil and Argentina latest at the Copa America 2011
After their disappointing 0-0 draw with Venezuela on Sunday at least Brazil fans have something to smile about: Argentina’s woes at the competition. Continue reading
Libertadores final: difficult night for Neymar but advantage Santos
After the drama of volcanic eruptions in Chile and the subsequent ash cloud that has covered most of southern South America, the Copa Libertadores final first leg finally got the go-ahead to be played on Wednesday night as scheduled.
In front of 60,000 screaming Peí±arol fans (including Diego Forlán), who put on quite a spectacle, Santos will be the happier of the two teams after they came away from the match with a 0-0 draw. Not a bad result at all for Neymar and co. especially because away goals count for nothing in the final, unlike previous rounds. Continue reading
Disaster for Santos in Copa Libertadores
Santos were beaten 3-2 by Colo Colo in the Copa Libertadores and their qualification hopes for the second round now hang by a thread (and possibly their hopes of hanging on to Ganso and Neymar beyond June too). Continue reading

Paulo Henrique Ganso is back! After more than 200 days out with a serious knee injury, the 21 year old playmaker made his comeback yesterday in the São Paulo State Championship coming on as a halftime substitute for the hapless Diogo against Botafogo-SP. Continue reading
Brazilian squad named for Scotland friendly
Brazil coach Mano Menezes has named his squad to face Scotland on 27 March 2011, in London. Still apparently experimenting with team selection, he sprung a couple of surprises in leaving out Robinho for the first time and calling up the uncapped u20 star Lucas. Continue reading
SP State Championship: Santos draw and their coach is fired
Santos coach Adilson Batista has been fired following a poor run of results culminating in a 1-1 draw at home to the lowly São Bernardo on Saturday night. Corinthians continued their recovery in the post Ronaldo era, winning 4-0 (Liedson scored another two) and São Paulo and Palmeiras drew 1-1 in a rain drenched Morumbi stadium. Little-known Mirassol now top the table after ten games. Continue reading
Corinthians beat Santos in São Paulo State Championship
Corinthians surprised many by beating Santos 3-1 in the match of the weekend in the São Paulo State Championship. Corinthians were inspired. It can’t possibly have been because of the silly marketing and gimmicky tributes to Ronaldo before the game so I’ll put it down to good coaching. Continue reading
