Less than a week after my report about the coaching merry-go-round in Brazil and another one bites the dust. This time it’s Falcão at Internacional. Ironically (or perhaps fittingly depending on how you look at it), the sacking came after Inter lost 3-0 at home to São Paulo, the team who sacked their coach a week earlier. Adilson Batista will be the new coach at São Paulo.

The news is a huge surprise since Muricy turned down the chance to coach the seleção (Brazilian national team) last year in order to honour his contract with Fluminense. It also comes less than four months after he won the National Championship with Fluminense. Muricy cited a lack of structure and Santos (currently coach-less) are said to be interested. The transfer fee is somewhere in the region of 7.6 million euros and the player has signed a four year contract. Continue reading
